Hi Guys!

There has been a big change at the Fitness Industry Education venue in Manchester. A transformation has happened from a slightly dated Fitness First to a brand new and totally re-kitted Soho Gym.  I have been teaching the first course of teh year from this great new gym!

The gym itself besides the regular kit now had a load of cool toys for us to play with such as a rack of kettlebells, battling ropes, ViPRs, lifting platform and much more! So I am looking forward to putting the students through their paces with it!

I am looking forward to running the personal training courses from the new venue, and I am sure the students will enjoy using the state of the art equipment.

So if your looking to do a personal training course in Manchester or you want a good gym to train at give me a shout!

Personal Training Course Manchester

Saturday, October 13th, 2012

Hi All,

I was up early this morning, and wow did I notice that Autumn has started.  It is definitely getting a bit chilly in the mornings!

The reason for me being up early this morning was that I am starting to teach a new course to get a group of students ready to enter the fitness industry as personal trainers.  The personal training course in Manchester city centre will be running for the next 18 weeks, with a short break for Christmas.  As always this is a very exciting task, I love teaching and helping to guide a fuel the excitement that these new personal trainers have for the industry.

I am planning to write a short article about how to become a personal trainer if any of you are sitting there thinking that you would be interested in having a go!  So keep your eyes out, it will be up in the next week or so!

Failing that just drop me a line and I will be more than happy to offer yo any advice I can or give these guys a shout, FIE!

Enjoy your Saturday!

Exercise Referral Leeds

Tuesday, July 31st, 2012

Hi All

The last couple of days have been spent traveling the long and frustrating M62 from Manchester to Leeds. I am still always amazed just how long the roadworks on this stretch of motorway have been there, but as always my backlog of podcasts kept me going!

The reason that I was making this hellish journey was to teach a Exercise Referral Course to a great bunch of personal trainers for FIE. The Leeds Exercise Referral group was a small but dedicated bunch, with some great questions and a genuine interest in helping their prospective clients! This is always a great thing to see in those that are new to the industry.

The new exercise referral qualification is great, and a massive improvement on the previous formats that I have taught over the years. This course really helps to get students prepared for the real world of working with special populations.

One of the key questions that I was asked was ‘will the course prepare us for the reality of working with special populations?’ My answer was a non-committal one, in that the course does go a long way to prepare you for working in this highly rewarding area but you need to specialise in one or maximum two conditions and use your foundation level knowledge acquired from the course to increase you depth of knowledge for your desired area of specialty.

This brings me onto an important point in that we as professionals need to keep learning and developing, whatever or area of interest is!
